SHARON RABINOVITZ

Honoree

SHARON RABINOVITZ
Security Director | Dedicated Leader | Endurance Athlete

A Legacy of Service and Security

With over 36 years of experience across military, diplomatic, and aviation sectors, Sharon Rabinovitz has built a career defined by vigilance and leadership. Originally from Beer-Sheba, Israel, Sharon’s foundation in security began with his service in the IDF’s Givati Infantry Brigade. During his tenure, he served as an infantry soldier and squad commander, eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant as a Field Operations Officer.

This rigorous military background instilled in him the “challenge-ready” mindset that he brings to every role. His expertise eventually brought him to Florida, driven by a pursuit of professional growth and academic achievement.

Twenty-Five Years of Dedication

Sharon has been a cornerstone of the Hillel community for 25 years. As the Security Director, he utilizes his deep knowledge of threat assessment and crisis management to ensure a safe environment for students and staff. His approach combines technical proficiency-managing complex surveillance and access control systems-with the calm, decisive leadership required in high-stakes environments.

“I describe myself as a consistent, dedicated problem solver-a quick learner who is always ready for the next challenge.”

Beyond the Professional Perimeter

While Sharon is a results-driven professional, his life outside of work is defined by endurance, curiosity, and family. Having traded the fencing foils of his childhood for the demanding world of triathlons and Ironman competitions, he continues to challenge himself through discipline and resilience.

Despite his high-octane pursuits, Sharon finds his greatest joy in life’s simplest moments. He lives in Florida with his wife, Gloria, and their daughter, Ella. On any given weekend, you’re likely to find him outdoors camping under the stars or enjoying a bike ride with Ella.

2026 Student Volunteer
Award Recipients

Amit Elbaz Starinsky

Amit is a 17-year-old senior in Kesher. She moved from Israel to Miami in 8th grade. She has spent the last 5 years on the Scheck Hillel campus making friends, volunteering and turning into the fine young lady she is today. Easily overcoming a language barrier at the age of 12, Amit came to school speaking only a few words of English. Through hard work and dedication she learned English while completing all of her studies. In fact, Amit likes school so much she can’t even choose a favorite subject, but when pressed, she says math is her favorite. During her free time Amit likes to hang out with her friends and younger siblings. She enjoys taking the family dog Vincent for walks and loves her Aventura community. In school Amit spends her free time volunteering in Morah Susie’s class, where she is a student teacher for Hebrew. She also volunteers every Wednesday in a cooking class at the JCC. Amit remembers what it was like to be the new girl in town, and therefore, is always trying to find ways to help others to make sure everyone feels included. After graduation, Amit will return to Israel to serve in the IDF.

Jake Labbie

Jake Labbie, is a senior in Kloda Whitebook Kesher Academy at Scheck Hillel Community School, and will be graduating this year. Jake has been a student and active volunteer on campus since enrolling 5 years ago. He has many friends, and is part of The Roar Post as a photo journalist. He is also Kesher’s official event photographer and has dedicated many hours to this endeavor. Jake’s passion for photography and willingness to always be available are just a few of his attributes. In grades 9-11, Jake was also a volunteer for the Friendship Circle. With a smile on his face, he always brings joy and his energetic spirit to all he does. Aside from being passionate about helping others and taking pictures, Jake also helps with Shabbat services at Temple Judea, and works hard to make people feel included in all activities. He truly embodies the Value of Ruach (Jewish Spirit) when helping out. As a rising college freshman Jake has applied to FIU, Broward, and Miami Dade Colleges. While Jake knows there are many jobs he will be good at, he firmly states that his dream job would be as a tour guide in Disney or Universal Studios when he gets older.
